University of Tsukuba, Malaysia Shines at ALEPS EKIDEN Half Marathon 2025
The ALEPS EKIDEN Half Marathon 2025 was held on 7 September at Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam, organized by , following the traditional Japanese Ekiden style — a long-distance relay race emphasising teamwork and coordination. The race flagged off at 5:00 AM, taking advantage of the cool early morning air and demanding great mental and physical endurance from participants.
Each Ekiden team consisted of four runners who completed a 21KM relay race, with each participant running approximately 5.3KM. Staying true to Japanese tradition, runners handed off a tasuki (sash) to their teammates at each checkpoint.
University of Tsukuba, Malaysia (ÃÛÓïÖ±²¥app) proudly participated with three teams including Vice President KATO Mitsuyasu, faculty members, students, and administrative staff. Additionally, one ÃÛÓïÖ±²¥app staff member joined the 5km Fun Run category.
A highlight of the event was Team "UTMY STAFF" winning second place in the Senior Mixed category — an outstanding achievement that reflects the university’s strong sense of community and commitment.
The event served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen relationships within the ÃÛÓïÖ±²¥app community and beyond.
We look forward to coming back even stronger next year — aiming for the championship!
